Why no Fall Production?

Good question!

We had chosen one – it was to have been Neil Simon’s “Barefoot in the Park”. Rehearsals were well under way and the cast was almost off book.

And then circumstances conspired to prevent us from staging a follow-up to our incredibly successful productions of “The Mousetrap”, “Steel Magnolias” and “Lafferty’s Wake".

First, our regular venue was closed for essential repair work and won’t be opened again until March 2010. So we decided to put the show on in the Elks Hall, where we staged “Lafferty’s Wake”.
Then the threat of a federal election loomed - and had that happened, the Elks' Hall would have been unavailable for six weeks or more.
And then to top it all off, our “Barefoot” director was called away with his “real” job to California, and won’t be back until the end of February. The cast decided they didn’t want to change directors part way through, so we’ve shelved the production until Fall 2010 at the earliest.
By the time this all transpired, it was too late to select another play, cast it, rehearse it… you get the picture…

As of early December, we’re putting together a show for the end of February. More details will be available at the end of December.

We hope that all our regular patrons (and new ones too!) will understand our plight, and continue to support live theatre in Okotoks when the RPAC re-opens.
