We are excited to announce auditions for our upcoming production of Steel Magnolias by Robert Harling!

Steel Magnolias is a heartfelt, humorous, and powerful story that celebrates friendship, resilience, and the strength of women. We are looking for dedicated performers ready to bring these iconic characters to life.

Synopsis/Characters:
In the small town of Chinquapin, Louisiana, all the ladies who are “anybody” gather at Truvy’s beauty salon. Truvy, the outspoken and wise-cracking stylist, is assisted by her eager new helper, Annelle, who isn’t even sure if she’s still married. Together, they cater to the town’s colorful personalities: Ouiser, the eccentric, wealthy curmudgeon; Miss Clairee, a socialite with an insatiable sweet tooth; and M’Lynn, the local social leader whose daughter, Shelby—the prettiest girl in town is about to get married.

Filled with witty banter, sharp humor, and acerbic verbal sparring, the play takes a turn toward tragedy in the second act. Shelby faces a dangerous pregnancy, and the characters are confronted with the realities of life and loss as they find strength, resilience, and love in one another.

 

Audition Dates: 

Tuesday, January 20th: 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Thursday, January 22nd: 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Sunday, January 25th: 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Aldersyde Community Hall - 102 Dennis Street, Aldersyde

Audition Requirements:

• Please prepare one monologue (approximately 1–2 minutes).

• Monologues may be from Steel Magnolias or another play of your choice.

• Actors should also be prepared for a cold read from the script if requested.

 

What to Expect:

• A supportive audition environment

• Opportunity to show both prepared and spontaneous reading skills

• Casting decisions will be made based on the needs of the production.

 

Rehearsals: Tuesdays (7 pm - 9 pm), Thursdays (7 - 9 pm), Sundays (2 pm – 4:30 pm)

Tech Week:    May 3 – 7th

Performance Dates: May 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23 (Poster attached)
